What’s in a word? These days, words can have many meanings.  Society is diverse, technology continues to explode with new influences in our lives and business is evolving within this environment.

In the world of wireless mobile communications there is a word that needs some clarification : “Dispatch”.

In the dictionary, the word, “Dispatch”, has 14 distinct meanings. But in business:

Commerce.

  1. a method of effecting a speedy delivery of goods, money, etc.
  2. a conveyance or organization for the expeditious transmission of goods, money, etc.

Since the day two-way radio was first used to “dispatch” a driver to take care of business, the use of wireless communication to send someone has become synonymous with the term; thus, we now erroneously refer to two-way wireless communications as, “dispatch”.

Today we send and track vehicles, drivers, packages, freight and other things using sophisticated hardware/software systems.  These systems perform the dispatch function according the definitions above. A confusion of terms sets in when two-way wireless voice is integrated into such a dispatch system because many people also use the term dispatch when referring to both the system and the two-way.  “Ask the Dispatcher to Dispatch Jim using the Dispatch.” Huh?

This is one of many reasons we have repositioned two-way voice communications as “Instant Voice Communication”, IVC.  It is a much more precise definition and does not conflict with the definition of Dispatch.

So, if you have a business that dispatches drivers, goods, services or information, we can help you do it all much more efficiently, paperlessly, on-the-go and integrated with IVC.  So you can dispatch Jim with IVC from your dispatch system.

Save you time and money here.
